The Power of Now

Yesterday I had a conversation with someone and when I asked him what time it was he simply said “now”.  His live in the moment approach to things started me thinking.

Today I had the pleasure of doing a conference call with several savvy successful businessmen in Europe.  As questions in relationship to what has gone on in the past with F.E. were asked Joroen reminded me (and others) on the call not to look back, but to think about what is going on right “now” (and to look forward).

There it was, twice in two days, perhaps the universe was trying to tell me something!

I’ve been extremely busy the past few weeks, explaining to people why Anson and I walked away from the biggest check in the company and why in good conscience we could not for one moment longer be involved with F.E.  Our phones have been ringing off the hook as people have called us to complain how F.E. decided to swap in an unproven, untested product, without warning.  

We have been encouraging them to leave that behind and to look to the future.  BUT perhaps we have not been putting enough emphasis on the combination of how actions taken right “now” can positively affect your future.

So here’s what we have right now…

CEO/Chairman of the Board/Director/President Officer since September 2008 Mr. Schlossmann has served as TruckCenter.com’s CEO since October 2006. Prior to serving as CEO of TruckCenter.com Mr. Schlossmann held the position of CEO at Nationwide Auction Systems from October 1999 until his departure in September of 2006 when he acquired Truckcenter.com from Nationwide. During Mr. Schlossmann’s tenure at Nationwide, he led Nationwide’s internal development and external expansion efforts. This included strategic planning, technology upgrades and development, strategic planning, the implementation of a professional sales and marketing team and identification and negotiations with potential acquisition targets. Prior to joining Nationwide he was a consultant to Nationwide for approximately five years, and served as acting CEO and CFO from January 1999 until his permanent appointment in October of that year. He has twenty years of experience as a business management consultant and certified public accountant. He has advised various small to mid-size companies in the areas of taxation, preparing business plans, evaluations and has performed due diligence in the analysis of potential acquisitions, business ventures and transactions. Most recently, he was a partner with Gordon, Fishbum & Schlossmann, LLP, Certified Public Accountants (1995-1998) and has served as accountant and advisor to Nationwide for the past four years. Prior to that, he was a partner with Hankin & Company (1988-1995), a full service consulting firm focused on implementing strategic solutions for owner managed businesses and forensic consulting. Mr. SchIossmann served as Senior Tax Manager at Price Waterhouse (1983-1988), providing integrated tax planning and advisory services to high-tech, high-growth companies as well as to high-net-worth individuals. Mr. Schlossmann received his Bachelor of Science Degree (summa cum laude) in Business Administration and Accounting from Califomia State University, Northridge.

Jack Peterson served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development for Nu Skin Enterprises from April 2006 to October 2008. Prior to this position, he served as VP of Business Development for Nu Skin’s Pharmanex division, where he led the acquisition, development and worldwide launch of the Pharmanex Bio-Photonic Scanner. This initiative produced over $1B in new revenues over a five year period for the company. Jack has been actively involved in introducing the n etwork marketing industry to the power of technological advances. Before his 11 years as a VP of  Nu Skin, he served as Vice President and General Manager at 2021 Interactive. There, he helped develop marketing strategies for n etwork marketing startups and built complex compensation plans to revitalize failing companies. Prior to his involvement with 2021, he was an investment executive with Piper Jaffray.

 

Craig Ellins has more than 20 years of experience and sold 100s of millions of dollars of merchandise via Internet and television direct marketing. He was founder of Shop Television Network, the first entertainment filled, 24-hour live television-shopping channel. He served as head of Business Development with Fingerhut Corporation until 1995 when he turned his attention to the Internet. Mr. Ellins served as CEO of helloNetwork for five years before founding DigitalFX, a company where he served as CEO from 2001-2008. Prior to these ventures, Mr. Ellins founded CVR and Auto Check Centers, prior to becoming a company officer with ADP, a multi-billion dollar company.

 

Amy Black is a former newspaper editor with years of marketing, government and media strategy experience. Most recently she founded DigitalFX International and was president of VMdirect. During her tenure the company sustained revenues in excess of $24 million. Prior to DigitalFX, she was founder and served as VP of helloNetwork, an Internet technology company delivering services for Fortune 500 companies. helloNetwork was recognized for helping to bring technology companies to Nevada and was voted e-company of the year (2000) from the Internet Business Association of Nevada, and an Industry Appreciation Award from the Governor of Nevada (2001).
